With the UK Government in line to make all new build homes eco-friendly and carbon neutral, many new homes in the UK are being built using sustainable building materials and carbon-neutral designs and initiatives.
For instance, all houses' and apartments' walls and roofs are insulated to be energy efficient. Homes also have energy-saving fittings such as heating and lighting systems that are designed to use a low amount of energy. Not only is this good for the environment, it reduces the heating and energy costs for the householder. Some houses are also fitted with energy meters which allows the householder to monitor and manage the amount of heat, light and therefore overall energy they are using.
New technology is also used in the building of energy-efficient homes such as fitting sonar panels in the roof that allows natural heat from the sun to heat the water system. Other environmentally-friendly factors such as encouraging walking, cycling and the use of public transport by giving easy accessibility is implemented.
There is more an emphasis now with new developments on building a community, whether it is by building new shops, cafes, leisure facilities or community centres, so that everyone buying the new homes can use the facilities on their doorstep as a community.
