The Settlement Company ®Turns Nineteen
Mexico’s oldest escrow and title company turns 19, next month. It first opened its doors in 1991, primarily to serve the Los Cabos real estate industry. Since then, the company has served clients throughout the Republic.
According to John Glaab, the company’s Director of Marketing. The Settlement Company has handled transfers in every major Los Cabos development. Using its Virtual Closing® process, the company now is able to handle transactions from the Mayan Riviera, to Puerto Vallarta, to Acapulco.
Linda Neil commented, “When I arrived in San Jose del Cabo, the industry lacked a third party depository for documents and funds. Our company was the first to offer those services and later it added legal and tax consultations.. We have also helped developers with purchase contracts, condominium regimes and setting up Home Owners Associations. One of our current major projects is in Zihuatanejo. While most of our clients have been from Canada and the United States, we have also obtained titles for people from places as far away as Andorra (France) Australia and Italy. Our first office was in San Jose. In 2000, we moved our main office to La Paz, while our Chief Financial Officer and Executive Closing Officer are still located in San Jose del Cabo.”
