When deciding to buy Mexico real estate, some people have a difficult time choosing between one of the charming colonial cities in the central interior or the beachfront locations out along the Pacific or on Mexico’s Caribbean.  What helps a good deal in these cases is that Yucatan real estate near the city of Merida actually offers both – at the same time!

Merida is the largest city on the Yucatan Peninsula and has the second largest historic colonial city center in Mexico.  It offers all the charm of colonial Mexico – narrow streets, old buildings, awe-inspiring churches, street musicians, sidewalk cafes, great restaurants, good bars, museums, concerts, art galleries and much more.

At the same time, the beach is only 20 minutes away.  The town of Progreso is directly on the beachfront and offers a very relaxing place to enjoy margaritas while relaxing in lounge chairs overlooking the ocean.  Progreso and nearby towns also have excellent real estate options for anyone who prefers to live on the beach and make excursions to enjoy the rich history of Merida.

On the north side of Merida, even closer to the beach, there is an area with sports complexes, new malls and large modern stores.

This real estate option really offers the best of all worlds when it comes to Mexico real estate.
